Count sightseeing days, not only calendar days
A four-day package by air may contain only two full sightseeing days once arrival and departure are considered. A road trip uses even more time in transit. Start by separating travel days from time actually available in Skardu.
Three nights: the compact introduction
With dependable flights, three nights can cover Kachura, Shigar, Sarfaranga and one carefully chosen extra experience. Keep the first or final day light because flight times can shift.

- Do not force both Basho and Deosai into the same short plan.
Four to five nights: the balanced choice
Four or five nights gives you three to four useful sightseeing days. This is enough to separate the Kachura area, the Shigar route and one full highland excursion.
It also creates room for a slower morning, weather adjustment or shopping in Skardu town without sacrificing the main experiences.
Six or seven nights: deeper Baltistan
A longer stay can add Khaplu, additional villages or a more relaxed pace. It is a stronger choice for photographers, international guests and families who do not want long excursions every day.
By air versus by road
Flying saves calendar time, but weather can interrupt the plan. Road travel turns the approach into part of the journey but needs longer driving days. If you have an important onward flight, keep a buffer rather than placing connections back-to-back.
